As many of you probably read, Nicole from freshlyblended is taking a break this year so I will be filling in as your host (Hi, I'm Alisa, nice to meet you!) Because this is my first time as a swap coordinator, I am moving it back to swap-bot to keep things simple. Other than that, the swap will be run pretty much the same as it has in recent years. Also, for those of you who are wondering, even though freshlyblended isn't hosting this year, Nicole and I decided to keep freshlyblended in the name so that everyone would know it is still the same swap.
To sign up, go to swap-bot and search for freshlyblended Holiday Ornament Swap 2011 (if you are a first time user of swap-bot you'll have to create an account). Please make sure you read through all the guidelines before you sign up. Another good thing to do before signing up is to check your calendar and think realistically about if you will be able to create, package, and mail 8-10 ornaments by December 7th.

I'm in! Hoping to outdo my own submissions from the past two years... Let the cocoa-induced craftiness ensue.

nice letterpress effect on that design! You need to fill me in on the process for that!
ReplyDeleteI totally want to participate, but I'm not 100% sure if my address will still be the same in 2 months. not sure what to do!
Brit, can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteMaria, its a puxlypixel tutorial. (It's on my 'toolbox' Pinterest board..)
Rattycat,
ReplyDeletehow will you address how swapbot assigns groups. I have participted in 5 years of freshlyblended swaps and the years with swapbot were the worst! Because the site assigns you 10 people to send ornaments to that are not the same 10 people who will be sending to you......
I am excited to hear the swap is carrying on but sad to see it go back to swapbot.
happyacorn
Morty,
ReplyDeleteSwapbot assigns groups randomly. If someone with a poor rating wants to participate, I can block them from participating, although I am hoping I don't find myself in that situation. Whether administered through swapbot or not, there is always the chance that a swap participant could flake out or you will receive some ornaments that aren't up to your standards/taste/etc. Through swapbot you do have the option to give feedback to your swap buddies, both negative and positive. For me, the holiday ornament swap has been about sharing things made by hand with love and the excitement of receiving surprises in the mail. I am hoping for a great swap this year with lots of happy participants!
YAY ALISA!!!!! Thanks for picking up the gauntlet. Last year swap literally changed my life :) It was my first year and launched an art career resulting in my first one man show. Thank You and I'm all signed up. CAN'T WAIT...
ReplyDeleteKimberj, one of my friends received an ornament from you last year! It's the top right in the pic on your blog - we were so impressed! Glad you are back for another year.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this swap! It's one of the best and I'm so happy it's still going.
ReplyDeleteI signed up! I wanted to last year but can't remember why I didn't... anyway, very excited!
ReplyDeleteAmber, I think you'll like it ~ welcome!
ReplyDeleteI'm all signed up! This is my first year participating and I'm really looking forward to the exchange of creativity!
ReplyDeleteI've never done this before but it looks like fun! I always make a new ornament each year. It's going to be great sharing it with more people!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I'm so glad I took the second to check this out today, or I would've missed the deadline! It's my 4th year and I'm so excited!!!! Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on my ornaments, my first year participating! this is so fun, thanks for hosting!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey all I have ABPMomma as a partner she has been fully susspended and we are not to send to her. Can we send our ornament to the people ABPMomma was to send to? She said she already sent but reading her rates lead me to believe she has not. Please let me know who I can send my extra ornament to.
ReplyDeleteHi Namabear,
ReplyDeleteI see that ABPMomma has been suspended. For you and her other sending partners, please do not send to her if you haven't already. I can't find any way as an administrator to see who she was supposed to send to, but I will email swap-bot tonight to see if they can help me out. I will post a new comment here if I get an update. For now, hold on to that extra ornament :)
Thanks for the heads up, Alisa

ReplyDeleteOh man...I've participated in this swap for all five years. I *JUST* found the info about it. I can't believe I missed out :(
